It’s becoming more widely acknowledged that gardening and cooking are great for wellbeing. But how often do we think about the benefit that it can have for our children?
Mother of three, food writer and enthusiastic gardener Helen Cross is the voice behind the podcast Grow Cook Inspire, which aims to encourage us get into cooking and gardening with our children and brings the countryside into the home. Recent guests include Alys Fowler, Frances Tophill and James Morton.
We’re delighted to announce that in partnership with us here at PlantGrow, Helen will present a new miniseries on Grow Cook Inspire to coincide with National Gardening Week. To celebrate the power of plants and gardens, Helen will be sharing inspiring stories about people who have hugely benefited from gardening and growing, both physically and mentally. At PlantGrow, we think it’s vital that children and young people are given the opportunity to explore gardening and growing their own vegetables to see the pleasure it can bring. Tending to living things can offer a great sense of wellbeing for everyone, not just adults, so we want to be part of ensuring that children get the chance to discover the magic of gardening.
To help encourage the next generation of green-fingered enthusiasts, we’ve provided Helen’s local primary school and nursery school garden with our organic peat-free compost. We hope that it will inspire children to grow great things!
